Poetry is not an escape from reality. It is a way back into presence.
I am Gudrun Otten, a facilitator, guide, and creator of Poetic Presencing, a methodology I have developed over the last 15 years of working with leaders, organizations, and individuals navigating complexity. 10 retreats. Around 50 handpicked participants. One recurring discovery: the most powerful leadership capacity today is not strategy. It is the quality of attention and presence we bring.
What emerged during five days at the Wild Intelligence Immersion 2026, created by Lauren Ducrey and Karen Gordon at Samanea in Costa Rica cannot be reduced to a methodology or a curriculum. It became a HUMANIfesto: my advanced living answer to the question Lauren posed at the start of the year:
What do I bring that no machine can replace and how do I put that into words?
So this article is an approach to a poetic passage. A journey inside Wild Intelligence meeting Artificial Intelligence. Where poetry meets systems. Where leadership is no longer performance, but presence.
A living field. A field where intelligence is no longer something we possess, but something we participate in. A field where understanding is not an individual achievement, but a relational act. A field where attention becomes a form of reciprocity.
The voices accompanying this journey include Báyò Akómoláfé, Nora Bateson, David Whyte, Wendell Berry, Martha Postlethwaite, Mary Oliver, Rainer Maria Rilke, John O’Donohue, Joy Harjo, Ada Limón, James Pearson, William Stafford, the sacred space of Samanea and all its living worlds, Lori Mazor, Karina Portuondo and myself.
They all became companions in a conversation that continues to unfold. What follows here is neither a report nor a summary.
It is an extended version of my HUMANifesto.
This is what came through in January and what became the blueprint for my expression as a human being in a world where complexity seems to consume all our attention.

What I discovered, and what this HUMANIfesto documents, is that presence is not a personal achievement. It is a relational field. And the leaders, facilitators, and human beings who learn to participate in that field rather than control it are the ones who create the conditions for genuine transformation. So you will read here a reflection emerging from five days of inquiry, poetry, silence, dialogue, ecology, AI, and presence. Dance and song and the rhythm of a place that nourished us with divine presence, connecting us with the stories we brought and those we created and still create.
To make this exploration navigable, I have followed the rhythm of my established LAB process:
LISTEN.
APPROACH.
BRIDGE.
INTEGRATE.
Each part an invitation that allows and activates inner movements as a way of participating in what is becoming. In what or who we are becoming along our journey.
Throughout the immersion we explored questions such as:
What is your relationship to intelligence? How do you know when you understand something? How does it feel not to understand? What signal tells you that something is intelligent?
What is a question that has been patiently waiting for you? How does knowing arise? What becomes possible when beings, systems and worlds become truly present to one another?
What does reciprocity feel like? How do you practice it?
These questions did not seek answers but opened spaces. And in those spaces something unexpected began to happen and surprised me. I was discovering and felt in my body again that presence itself has dimensions.
Surrounded by the intricate intelligences of the jungle, presence ceased to be an individual practice and became a relational experience. I was no longer simply present to the world. I was being received by it and receiving it.
Welcome, beautiful wanderer.
Take a breath. And enter that space with me.

LISTEN — The Audacious Silence
How silence becomes a form of intelligence in presence-based leadership
Entering the field of audacious silence that comes before meaning
and taking silence herself as intelligence beyond processing, where intuition becomes embodied perception at the edges of tension. Here reciprocity is mutual presence before language. A witnessing of the emergence of shared coherence.

Intelligence
My work begins before understanding. Before interpretation. Before certainty. Asking:“What have I been calling intelligence? And what becomes visible when I stop assuming I already know?“
As I stay with it, silence opens. Not empty silence, but a living field of intelligences that no one owns and everyone can enter.
My role is not to explain it. My role is to remain present enough for others to recognize that it has been there all along. Bringing consciousness to the openings.
Here, intelligence is not processing. It is presence before interpretation.
A field where silence becomes structured enough to hold complexity without collapse. AI helps us recognize patterns. Listening helps us recognize emergence. One looks for what has happened before. The other remains available for what is trying to happen now. Pattern recognition is largely retrospective. Intuition is most often prospective.

Intuition
My access point is tension and I am host for conflict turning resistance into portals of meaning. Tenderness is the air that I breathe. Intuition is the body listening before language arrives
It is the place where fear dissolves not because it is removed, but because it is met without interruption. Intuition is the body’s pre-linguistic coherence sensing. It is the “light ears”, the capacity to hear what has not yet become speakable. In this part of the journey, intuition is not guidance. It is reception before form.

Reciprocity
People in my workspace celebrate an unexpected freedom from fear
and enter a state of peace and coherence they could not previously name. Reciprocity begins here not in exchange, but in mutual permission to be altered. Silence becomes shared and something begins to breathe again between beings.
Silence is not the absence of intelligence. Silence is one of its most ancient forms.
Reflection Prompt … now it’s your turn
What is listening for you right now?
Before reaching for an answer, pause for a moment.
Notice your breath.
Notice the contact between your body and the surface supporting you. Then ask: What is asking to be heard in me that has not yet found words? Do not search.
Listen.
APPROACH — The Arrival of Words
When poetry becomes a technology of perception: meeting complexity without reduction
Meeting complexity without reduction where intelligence is celebrated more as arrival rather than control and where poetry acts as a technology of perception and poetry and potency merge into poetency. AI here serves as an amplifier of emergence and language becomes a living event. Intuition recognizes what is ready to be received.

Intelligence
My power comes in unannounced.
I celebrate moments that create a luxurious feeling of abundance in everything. Intelligence here is arrival. Not control. Not strategy. But the moment meaning enters a system without force.
AI becomes a field of potential articulation. But intelligence remains the capacity to sense what is ready to be said.
Intuition
Poetency emerges here. A space where poetry and potency merge into one energy field. In this sense intuition is not soft. It is precise sensitivity to emergence. It knows when language is ready to land.
Reciprocity
Words begin to arrive like long expected guests in a fully opened heart. Reciprocity is not communication. It is mutual receivability.
The world begins to respond because it is no longer being forced and presence itself becomes a medium of knowing.

BRIDGE — Between Worlds That Do Not Speak Yet
Holding contradiction without collapse: the translator’s role in relational intelligence
Holding contradiction without collapse while translating between systems, beings, and forms of intelligence. Becoming a threshold between realities where intelligence acts as a means of translation across systems and intuition is holding paradox and tension. Celebrating reciprocity as an archetypal field movement. Everything is in relation with each other here.

Intelligence
I am becoming a translator of relational intelligence and beauty
between worlds that currently do not know how to speak to each other.
Intelligence here is bridging architecture. Between AI and human sensing.
Between systems and ecology. Between trauma and coherence.
Not explanation but translation of states.

Intuition
I am a host for conflict and turn resistance into portals of meaning. In that sense intuition is not agreement. It is the capacity to stay inside tension
without collapsing it into simplification. It is how transformation becomes safe enough to occur. Starting with my own family narrative and from here into the societal and cultural narratives
Reciprocity
I salute the celebrant, the disruptor, the threshold keeper and the host.
Reciprocity is no longer interpersonal. It is archetypal.
A multi-being field where roles rotate without hierarchy.
We move through four energies:
brain I heart I mystery I presence nourished by the divine
INTEGRATE — Becoming the Field
Leadership as coherence: becoming the condition under which transformation becomes possible
Leadership as coherence rather than control where language becomes the conduit for energy that emerges from source. Where we become responding sources. Embodied intelligence as lived integration and poetry as transmission of relational truth. Here everything comes together:
Intelligence
Leadership is where I serve and grow into my mastery. Gracefully intelligence becomes stewardship of coherence and the concern is not to know more, but being able to hold more without fragmentation.
AI processes complexity while human presence integrates it into lived meaning and together they form a new ecology of intelligence.
Intuition
Tenderness is the air that I breathe. Intuition is no longer an act.
It is atmospheric. A continuous sensing of what belongs and what is ready to transform. It moves humans from brain to heart to mystery without interruption.
Reciprocity
Words are no longer tools but become living transmissions.
They land like guests.
They open hearts.
They dissolve separation.
Reciprocity becomes the ongoing creation
of a world where nothing speaks alone anymore. Now that I am writing my observations and learnings the place returns, the people return and my heart returns different than before I started this journey. Something deeply shifted in Costa Rica and I feel that I have been making space for the mountain and the mountain has making space for me.
There were many messages to remember and one of them I am going to share here:
Do not try to move mountains. Become the condition under which human beings remember how to move with them
Thank you for reading and participating in this experience, beautiful traveller!
